Sermon Notes for Sunday 19 May
Jesus in the Storm by Madz Deyzel

Philippians 4:6-9
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

We all face storms (difficult & stressful times) in our lives, but God’s peace can guide and lead us through the storm. He is the great I AM, and He is in the boat with you! We can navigate our storms with confidence, depending on His Word to sustain us.

Discussion Questions:

  1. How can we create spaces for people to be more authentic and open up about the storms they face?
  2. Do you sometimes tell yourself a wrong narrative (story) when you’re in a storm? What do you need to do to correct this wrong thinking?
  3. Who is in your boat? Who are people in your life that have helped you navigate stormy seasons?
  4. How have you experienced God’s power to overcome difficult seasons in your life?
  5. We are Hope Family Church. What does it look like to be a bearer of hope in our community.
