Sermon notes & discussion questions for Sunday 11 May

RUN YOUR RACE – Ps Marinette van Coller

Hebrews 12:1-2 NLT
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.”

1. What was your biggest takeaway from Sunday’s Sermon?

Run with purpose – keep your eyes on Jesus, for He is the prize.
2. Have you been running without purpose – what is a Next Step you have to take, to step into all that God has planned for you?

Stay in your lane – the fastest way to ruin something special, is to compare it to something else.
3. Is comparison something you’ve struggled with – what are some changes you can make to help you run your own race and not someone else’s?

Run with endurance – endurance is built up over time and must be cultivated.
4. How can we build our spiritual endurance so that trials don’t stop our relationship with Jesus from progressing?

2 Timothy 4:7
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
5. Share about an area in your life where you need to fight, run your race and keep the faith?

Pray for all the needs in your Small Group.
